History of Ralamandal Wildlife Sanctuary
In the heart of India, Madhya Pradesh, Ralamandal Wildlife Sanctuary is located in Indore. Ralamandal Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the most popular wildlife reserves in India. Established in 1989, this sanctuary spread over 234.550 hac. is an abode to some flora and fauna, indigenous to this part of the country. Hope into the four wheel drives available here for hire, and catch glimpses of Leopards, Black Bucks, Chitals, Blue bulls, Hyena, Barking deers, Peacock, Palm-civet, Porcupine and Hare. Long back, the place served as a hunting ground for the royal family members of Holkars as it had a huge population of tigers, leopards and deers.In order to protect animals and birds from noise and air pollution emanating from nearby highway, a green wall of about 8,000 trees was created. It is 180 metres long and 6 metres wide.
Ralamandal, an exquisite bird and wild life sanctuary situated 12 km from the city, houses an ancient palace built by Holkers’. Shikargah
The Ralamandal Wildlife Sanctuary was established in 1989 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. It is spread over 2.34 square kilometers and is home to different species of birds and other wildlife. It has an ancient palace built by Holkars which was primarily used as a hunting hut also known as shikargah. The majority of the Fauna includes Leopard, Black Buck, Chital, Blue bull, Hyena, Bhedki (Barking deer) Hare etc. while Teak, Saja, Eucalyptus, Babul, Bamboo etc. are the among the popular available Flora. Its holkar's hunting house and now forest century in Indore. The place once had a huge population of tigers, leopards and deer, serving as a hunting ground for the royal family of the Holkars. A 'shikargah' was also built for the royal family members to stay in 1905. It is situated about 2.5 km form the entrance of the sanctuary.
